What that score means

The number out of 10 next to a member's name is a trust score, our attempt to show, at a glance, how much you can rely on someone being who they say they are before you meet up or hand over money. Tap the score itself on a listing to see exactly which checks a specific person has passed.

It's built from two things

• Verification: a confirmed email (required to join at all), a phone number verified by text, and for landlords/agents/PMs, a business or property-ownership check we've personally reviewed.
• Track record: closed deals recorded on the site and the reviews left by the other person involved. A brand-new account with no history yet still starts in good standing, not penalized for not having deals.

Everyone starts at “Building trust,” including a member who joined five minutes ago. This isn't designed to make new members look suspicious. It's designed to catch scammers: verification and a real track record raise a score toward “Trusted,” while an actual negative signal (see below) is what drops it toward “Low trust.”

A few other things you might see

• Some accounts are reviewed and verified directly by site staff. Those just show full marks across every check, the same as anyone who cleared them the self-serve way. There's no separate badge for it.
• ★ Vouched for: another member with an established history on the site is willing to put their own reputation behind this person.
• A score can be lowered by verified community reports: flags from other phone-verified members, not anonymous ones, so it can’t be gamed by a pile-on.

No score is a guarantee. Always meet in a public place, and never wire money or send a deposit before seeing a place in person.
